Bike comes largely pre-assembled in the box and comes
with user and assembly instructions from Montague and the
component manufacturers.. You will need to fit the front
wheel and seat, both with quick release mechanisms, and
one pedal.
Cross threading: the pedal
stub is steel and the crank is aluminum, so take care not
to cross thread the pedal into the crank. Should you decide
to use folding or demountable type pedals (see the MKS range)
your local bike shop will be able to advise you of the suitability
of each of these types of pedal.
Check that the brake levers do not foul the cross bar,
to adjust the brake lever positions on the handle you will
need a 5mm Allen key.
Tyres will need inflating. This can be done at your local
petrol station pump or if you have a car tyre pump, that
will do the job. 40lbs is okay for off road use, higher
pressure for on road use.
Fine-tuning of the gears may be necessary. This is something
to be done by a bike shop unless you are well experienced
in setting up a twenty-four gear system.
If the bike is to be used on the road most of the time
with occasional use off road, then consider changing the
tyres to puncture resistant hybrid types.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST HAVE THE BIKE CHECKED OVER BY A BIKE
SHOP BEFORE TAKING TO THE ROAD. Ask for an "out of
the box" check.
If collecting the bike, we assemble it for you, but we
still ask you to have the bike checked over by a competent
mechanic at you local bike shop.
